Absolutely! Have him write a story instead of boring sentences! He can make up a story starring a bug, a lizard, or anything else that catches his imagination.

To make it even more fun, let him draw pictures with his story, and then make it into book form when he's done. Make it playtime instead of homework time, and things will go much better for everyone concerned.

Write stories a paragraph long about reptiles. You write he spells then switch.

First, let him see you, his parents reading & writing and using proper English. Praise him. Are there books & other reading materials in your home? Do you all go to the library? After a love of reading writing comes next. Of course, choose subjects he loves. Good luck.

Don't home school him! I would suggest contacting his teacher to see what he/she thinks the child needs.

Paint one of his walls Chalk Board Black & get some colored chalk. You could show him stuff. Write & draw pictures of bugs & stuff. Also, you can order Chalk Board wallpaper. Search the web for it.

He could write sentences about bugs or reptiles, that may help. But, you also need to explain to him that everyone has things that they have to do even if they don't like them. Everyone has jobs at work that aren't their favorite but they still have to get done and school is his job. Tell him to do those first and get them out of the way and save the fun stuff for last. Remember your setting his home work habits now that will follow him through school. Don't let him fuss about it or he'll fuss his whole life and it will be a pain in the neck for you down the road. Good Luck!!! I'm so glad those days are behind me they are a lot of work.
