Is anyone else getting tired of students trying to get the Ask community to do their homework for them?

How does a student learn if all he/she has to do is go to Ask and write down the answer?
Report as
I mind the ones that expect us to write entire essays, do lengthy assignments or book reports. Answering a short question is something totally different. Some kids truly need help. Others expect people to do their work for them. There's a difference.

Yes, I agree with you to a point. And if they're asking where to go to research the answer that's one thing, but to ask a question that is answered in their textbook can be considered lazy. A lot of the questions I see can be answered by doing the work assigned to them.

Let me amend that MOST of the questions I see can be answered by doing the work assigned to them.

Then why are all these questions dumped into the open category instead of the so-called home work area?
Report as
I don't know. The asker chooses the catagory I guess and they are getting the message under homework. Ask is a good site overall but there are some questions that would take less time to google/bing than use Ask. That was a long time ago and I've calmed down some. Now I answer a lot of questions, not because I really have something to add but only to generate the donation to SGK.

I'm sick of it. I just let my eyes skim over those questions. Maybe some day Ask could categorize some of the questions.

We should ban it - or ask Ask to ban it - not advice in solving problems - but asking us to do the actual problem - ever wonder what these posters do while everyone is solving their equations or researching topics for them? I'll tell you one thing they're not doing - becoming educated.

Media dominated lives, poor or no parenting (media becomes the baby sitter), and basic discipline not enforced at critical young ages, and those c da....mn cell texting cell phones and Facebook - all ingredients to help dumb down students.

I've taught my kids to read before kindergarten. Phonics. Helping to raise
5 yr old grandson who just began kindergarten....same thing.

My parents (especially my mom) expected us to speak clearly and with proper grammer. I wish I had $100 for everytime my mother corrected me and my sisters. I'd wouldn't have to worry about finances for a couple of hundred years (lol). It is the adults around a young child that teaches him/her good grammer.

Ever wonder why "Phonics" is not spelled the way it's pronounced? ;-)
