Why do pounds collect animals if they are going to kill them after a while anyways?

I just dont think it's right!

Animals that are pets, or are accustomed to people caring for them are not able to fend for them selves. Think about turning your 5 year old child loose on the streets.. This is what it could be like for an animal that is lost or just cut loose. Scared, lonesome, hungry. Most die a long painful death, starving, illness , who knows what else. A pound will try to find them homes,
feed and care for them for as long as they can. Putting them down is not what they are there for. If a pound takes in 121 animals, which they do here in Phoenix, az, it is not possible to care for all the animals who are not adopted. It is a very hard and sad thing to have to do. SPAY AND NUTER your pets so you do not contribute to this problem.

They take the animals in hopes of finding homes for them. They have a better chance for a life than if left on the streets to go hungry and/or feral.

At least they get a vet exam, medications if needed and adopted if possible by going to the pound.
