Why is the Republican party so afraid of Ron Paul?
Even from the start of the primaries the Republican Party has been trying to downplay or even discredit Ron Paul's candidacy, often referring to him as "unelectable". Every time he had a strong showing in straw polls, analysts came up with an excuse why those numbers shouldn't be regarded as accurate and favored some other candidate instead. Now, at the latest convention, The RNC scrambled to change the rules at the last minute so free delegates would no longer be able to nominate Ron Paul and so would default to Romney instead. Why are they hindering the democratic process? If a portion of the people favor Ron Paul, why shouldn't their voice count?
