How does some NASCAR drivers get points in a race and some don't.

driver came in 29th which should be 15 points but shows earned 0 points

The highest points that a driver can win in a race is 43 points. On top of this, the driver also gets a bonus of 3 points for leading the laps. However, the drivers that earn 0 points do not have driving skills, good team mates and they do not watch out for restrictor plate races.
