What is the cheapest cell phone plan out there?

I only need a phone for calling my mom to pick me up from my volleyball games and babysitting, so I won't use it a whole lot. and I'm pretty broke. what phone can I get that is really cheap and has a inexpensive plan?

Tracfone has everyone beat. You have to get a tracfone that has triple the minutes. So if you purchase a 120 min card it is really 360. Most of the time you will also receive by email , Or phone call a special code to use when you purchase more time. The code can be anywhere from 20-60 extra min. Unlike Virgin mobile Tracfone only charges you for the time you use. If you only talk 30 sec it only charges for that. The coverage is also great. Never had a dropped call.

I myself use a Trac Fone the card that you they usually double the minutes so if you buy a 60 min card you end up getting 120 min for $20 or you can get a 120 minutes which doubles too 240 minutes for 90 days. and your time carries over. It uses a minute for each minute you are on the phone and uses a half of a minute for texting. I myself use this plan just for emergencies to let my family know I get to work alright or when I am about to leave for home.

I have a Net Ten phone, cost $25.00, monthly fee, with tax, about $16.00, I get caller ID, blue tooth, photo, blah, blah.and 200 minutes a month which accumulate, I have 1113minutes now. My friend has it for the blue tooth function, he has over 5000, minutes...can't beat it, phone is fair quality, but sound is great, love it....

t-mobile prepaid, $100 for 1000 min, 1 year expiration.
text $0.10 send/recv (ouch)
MMS $0.25 send/recv (OUCH)
no data, even their walled garden is gone now.

phones vary, the deals I see on their website tonight are pretty bad. Check local stores instead.

Wal-mart has the Straight-Talk plan. You can get a no-frills phone for $40 and the plan is $30 a month for 1000 minutes, 1000 texts and 30 MB of data. For $45 you get unlimited talk, text and data. Best of all, NO CONTRACTS! They use Verizon Towers so you get good coverage and the customer service is good as well!
