How can you speed up your metabolism?

Metabolism is the speed at which chemical reactions are happening in the body. All chemical reactions in the body are caused by enzymes.

Metabolic enzymes run the organs. Digestive enzymes digest food.

When foods are cooked the enzyme content is denatured and the enzymes become worthless to our bodies. In foods not heated above 105 degrees F the enzymes are still present and help digest food.

This is important because when the stomach needs more digestive enzymes, it takes metabolic enzymes from the rest of the body (the organs). Over time, this weakens and slows organs.

In short, we call this the metabolism slowing down, or aging. What is really happening is that the body is continually lacking in the enzymes it needs.

In summary, to speed your metabolism up you should eat raw fruits and raw vegetables.

Not sure about metabolism, but I read that green tea has a chemical in it that lets your body store excess carbs as muscle instead of fat. Normally only protein does that.

drink water. about 2 litre. without gas. Water cleans blood and body from bad micro elements. and that why you can speed up a metabolism with it

Exercise is the simple answer; coffee or stimulants is the unhealthy answer; but there are also a few practical and easy ways to boost your metabolism:
1. Eat a good breakfast.
2. Get plenty of sleep.
3. Split your meals into 5 to 7 per day, instead of 3. The last one is the toughest, but it really reaps dividends if you can manage it.

BTW: Why do you want to speed up your metabolism? What's the ultimate goal? I was going to refer you to an article, but I don't want to make any assumptions.

Make a mixture of 7 parts water to 1 part NOT FROM CONCENTRATE orange juice (in 1/2 gallon container, that's one cup of OJ) and drink it all day (finish the 1/2 gallon). Small level of glucose keeps metabolism up and prevents your body from going into starvation mode if you've cut back on calories.

Watch it girl!!! excercise will mainly increase your hart rate and and help you burn calories depending on the excercise, and in a way will also affect your metabolism but excercise IS NOT THE RIGHT WAY TO INCREASE METABOLISM!! there is nothing wrong with excercising....I do it every day....it is actually great for everyone! metabolism is the rate at which your body performs its chemical wonder in order to keep its natural balance, throw it off and you get fat or skinny and so on. See above.....what you eat and when you eat it is the perfect way to help your body perform its metabolism, and excecise will enhance it.

Nothing can speed up your metabolism without unwanted side affects they are all myths, just exercise and diet...sorry not what you wanted to hear ....but.....that's the way it is...

A high protein diet consisting of lean cuts of meat coupled with moderate exercise such as walking at a comfortable pace for about 20-25 minutes per day. If you do heavy cardiovascular exercise it can slow your metabolism. I lost 25 lbs following the Dukan Diet....(by Dr. Pierre Dukan and available at Wal-Mart for about $25). I prefer to call it a eating method because I ate my way down from 178 to 154lbs because eating high protein diet actually forces your body to expend calories to break down the protein and to burn fat as an energy source while you retain strong muscle tone. The book teaches you the safe way to do this. Hunce45

I decided to radically shorten my answer, too much talk. Straight to the point, rebounding, freshly pressed organic juice, and saunas.

First eat a health breakfast which is known to start up your metabolism.
Next get moving…. Doing laundry, gardening, cleaning, playing sports games, walking your dog- whatever you like to do, you are burning calories with movement.

So, go on start your day right and get moving! This will help you live health and maintain a healthy body.

Remember short cuts cut short your long term goal!

Eating earlier in the day (i.e. not skipping breakfast) will give your metabolism a boost. Also, 5 or 6 micro meals a day keeps your metabolic rate higher that 2 or 3 large meals, which can leave you feeling sleepy
