Why can't 12 year olds vote for US president? What could it hurt?

How would they know who they're voting for? It could definitely hurt if they were allowed to vote.

I don't mean to lump all kids into one mold. Since most adults seem to get lumped into one mold anyway. Because most 12 year olds don't have the understanding about how to differentiate between what sounds neat-0- and what is really important. Then again, it seems alot of adults can't do this either!

Most kids get their political information either from their parents or a teacher. This is not Unbiased info. We all need to make up our own minds.

Do you "need" a new Xbox? or is it just something you want. This is the difference between a kids thinking and an adults. Well, it is what an adult SHOULD be able to rationalize about! I am not too sure. Maybe 12 year olds should be able to vote. They would probably do a better job of ignoring the ads, and doing what they want.

Just imagine it. Twelve year olds voting. The fundamentalist Christians with 20-30 children would be making all the decisions...I shudder to think of what that would do to our country.
