Homoeostasis is a state of equilibrium, at which the body system is able to work appropriately. When homeostasis is interrupted, the body tries to restore it by adjusting one or more physiological processes. An example of homeostasis is when it gets too cold. The body responds by shivering, which then warms your body to adjust to the cold weather. Check out http://addictions.about.com/od/glossar1/g/defhomeostasis.htm for more information.
