What would cause me to feel and hear a pop in my rib? I had a severe cough for about 2 months that left my ribs sore before this happened.

It's been two yrs since I had the cough. I thought I had a hernia but my dr said it's impossible under my breasts. The side that popped is much larger than the other but both look swollen and are painful to touch. It seems to be getting larger... My dr doesn't seem to be concerned and said "well, at least you know it's not going to kill you!" After complaining he finally did an ultrasound but only checked my liver... Didn't even scan over the pain! Going back in another week.

The virus from the cough could cause your ribs to have a pop sound due to the excess pressure from the swelling. I would recommend you to seek another doctor's opinion about your ribs, so that the real problem can be diagnosed on time.
