Is there anybody out there who has blood pressure surges on waking from dreams first thing in the morning.

They are quite intense and leave me feeling drained and sickly

Yes. And after you have been awake for about a minute it goes back down? If so, that happen to me a lot. My blood pressure isn't the greatest and am thinking that might have something to do with it. It is kinda scary.

Are you currently taking meds to control the blood pressure? What are you dreaming about,& does your doctor know whats going on ? I have experienced bad dreams and have woke up with a racing heart, but does Not happen frequently.. You really should get looked at as it may be more serious than it sounds.. It might really be a medical issue that Is causing this to start with.. If it is, its like your bodies way of saying Helllp!!! I hope you are ok.. Dont mean to sound negative, but always best to be safe than sorry.. Take care..xoxo

Thank you for your reply,I went to see thedoctor months ago,she didn't seem to have any answers and upped one of my medication, my normal blood pressure reading are lower and she seemed pleased with that. I havent been to bad lately except the dream last night, all I can recall is that it was a very aggressive dream in which I was fighting someone, and woke up suddenly with whooshing noise in ears tooke about an hour to subside,I'm usually hot and very tense all over ,.Think whats happening, tensing up in dream, something in the brain stops you acting out your dream, but muscles tense up accordingly. When I have taken my reading on wakening it has not been all that high about 134 over 95,but highish for me because I am on medication.

I am female and 68 yrs old. No I don' have nightmares but they are very intense when I do have them, been to doctors, put me on slightly heavier dose of enalapril. last nights dreamn was very aggressive, fighting someone, woke up,very tense all over and whooshing noise in ears, which took about an hour to subside, have minor versions of this sometimes, but usually noise in ears goes back to normal after about 15 mins. When I have bad ones, taken blood pressure and its only been about 136 over 97,which is a bit hight for me,normally readings are about 108 over 70's on medication.
