Mucus plug refers to the concentration of mucus deposited in the opening of the cervix. Its function is to block germs and bacteria from entering the uterus. It usually increases when your cervix dilates over a period of time. It is a sign of labor and generally considered to be normal. Consult your doctor for more help.

Not necessarily a sign of labour. However an indication that labour will be happening soon. You can loose your plug and not have active labour for days.

Ask about this at the beginning of your next class. Other people in the room will want to know about it too. Good luck.

There is no need to worry. Losing your mucus plug does not mean you are going into labor you can lose it several weeks before you go into labor. My daughter was 4 weeks early and she was fine.

If your next appointment is soon talk to the dr about it then or call..when I was pregnant with my son I lost my mucus plug almost 2 months before I went into labor.

Obviously under a Dr or Midwives care. I know it is scary, there are medicines to slow down the labour process and a medicine to help the lungs develope faster.

You need to notify your ob/gyn. Don't wait for your next appointment, call them.
