They can't, but that doesn't stop them. We are in dynamic tension with all of our civil rights, as each right has a limitation and no right is an absolute. We debate about the reasonable limits we should give to each of our sacred rights, even those not written into the Constitution, but found in the "penumbra" of the rights accorded by ones written into law. It is curious some wish to extend absolutely no limits to one of the "rights" found in the penumbra, the right to an abortion, while others wish to keep reasonable limits on it. Similarly, the right to keep and bear arms is limited by many; concealed carry restrictions and rules, age restrictions, mental health restrictions, carry and ammo restrictions, clip restrictions, etc have all been proposed. If one allows limits on this right which is actually expressed, it should stand to reason that limits on abortion might be equally reasonable. But liberals do not love the constitution, they wish to remake it. The Bill of Rights is their protector from tyranny, and the Second Amendment is the clockwork mechanism at the heart of the machine of defense against the threat of tyranny.
Lack of education. I have said it before and I will say it again. I think everyone should have to take a gun safety class before graduating from high school. Not only should they learn the do's and don'ts of responsible gun ownership, but they should learn how to fire and take care of a gun. If we take away the fear and misinformation I think more people will get the second amendment.
Mainly because of the large number of shootings recently. Although, I believe that at this time the second amendment should be supported more than ever. Because if you make it illegal to bear arms, then only criminals will carry them, which would make it easier for the criminals to commit their crimes without anything in their way (like robbing a bank). So with guns being legal, it makes the law abiding citizens like a back up police and they will also be able to protect their lives and others lives independently. If your with me on this, then purchase a gun, it will make all the difference in a life threating or serious situation.

People get worried over gun violence such as Columbine or The Batman shootings. Shootings like there are terrible, but I don't think that they should do away with the 2nd amendment. I just think they should make precautions so only trained people should bear arms.

I want to do away with it, since the Supreme Court ignores the "well-regulated militia" qualifier. Even so, it wasnt a bad idea in 1789, when cannons were the most lethal weapons. But now, if you take the main clause literally, what's to stop private persons (which per the Supreme Court includes corporations) from acquiring nuclear weapons? And if you do limit "arms" to hand-held ones, theyre not much use against government tyranny.
