How do I get rid of shadows under my eyes?

(I don't want to use makeup) I sleep more than 8 hours, could it be stress?

This is coming from someone who has had dark under eyes all her life: If you only have them occasionally, it may be lack of sleep. However, if you have them all the time, even when you sleep well, then it's probably just genetics and you can't do much about it. Apparently, leaky capillaries cause the dark discoloration in the delicate skin under the eye. I've read that you can try putting used tea bags on them - the caffeine might improve their appearance - but make sure they've cooled first! Also, NEVER put ice or anything frozen on them as others have suggested. This will only make you look way worse - red and puffy. The under eye skin is way too sensitive for that! There's not too much you can try that isn't either makeup or an expensive cream that may not even work. Best thing is to just accept it as part of your unique, natural look. You will be beautiful with or without them. Did you know that at one time in history, dark under eyes were even in vogue? Mine used to bother me more, but now I'm mostly over it. On the rare occasion that I wear makeup, I put a little bit of concealer on them and that's it. Otherwise, I just go with it.

Do you have allergies? When my allergies are bothering me, I get dark circles under my eyes. If you have allergies, your doctor can give you medication or advice!

how much more than 8 hours do you sleep? the average requirement for length of time being asleep is between 8 and 8.5 hours. anything more or less than that can and will result in more fatigue and dark circles under your eyes.

Sleep, cucumbers, and if you have to go to bed late and wake up early then stick a spoon in the freezer and take it out in the morning and hold it on your under eyes for a minute. they also sell under eye concealer/brightener makeup. good luck!

Sleep is important;however, stress, misuse of alcoholic beverages or drugs, can also be factors. And don't forget age. More noticable as we age. Cucumber slices help relieve this issue for some folks. Today there are many eye makeup concealers in all price ranges for those who cannot decrease the coloring. Use sparingly and follow up with your regular makeup.Men can also have the same issue

Drink raw organic apple cider vinegar. Give it 3 months to work. Drink it daily mixed with organic honey and natural (pure not tap) (carbonated if you like) water. It`s not as horrible as it sounds. Also try the best to eat & live a healthy diet and lifestyle. The dark circles sound like an enzyme deficiency that can be corrected with this drink..(tonic) It`s great and will help your health in more ways than you can count on all your fingers (and toes) Please look up the benefits of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar... There`s a book by Bragg`s that covers all the detail. Absolutely amazing stuff.

Do you have to put the honey in the tonic?
Report as
You don`t have to put the honey in, it does however, make it tastier...especially if you use a natural carbonated water like Pellegrino , Gerolsteiner or the like.
The ( local, organic, raw ) honey is also super healthy and may even help with the eyes...especially if it has to do with something allergy related ( which I doubt though ) However, it is true, some girls look really very uniquely cute with dark circles under their eyes...( a little on the goth side of things ) (You can also try using your power of belief and pretending they are gone for real, until they disappear...well, according to Rhonda Byrne, who wrote the secret, it works.)...but don`t ask me about that.

Apply an under-eye cream every night. This will provide the sensitive skin beneath your eyes with moisture and will firm up the skin. With repeated use, these creams constrict blood vessels and prevent the formation of under eye bags.

I have dark things around my eye too and my mother said you aren't getting enough sleep but i've been getting 10 hours a so a day then i ask my doctor and they said i sleep with my eye open a little bit so you getting light in your eyes so your not really sleep so she told me to use the eye cover so it could block out all the light. Talk to your doctor about that or it can be obesity and you lose energy quickly.
