I don't believe that regularly just handing money over to kids teaches them nothing about earning money. Most of the time they should have to do things to earn this money. I don't include in this regular chores around the home. Kids also need to learn that being part of a family (or even a group of people sharing a home) also means everyone needs to pitch in. You certainly can give kids regular chores but also have "non regular" chores that you could pay them to do. When I do this I expect to OAU very well for such chores but I tie the actual amount to the level of the work done.
if they do chores and they should learn to save a certain % I do it for my 2 kids who are 6 and 7 i started when they started pre school at age 3 but on the other hand it is up to parents and if the child/children understand
