Do you think it is good to give money to children regularly?

The children are between 4 to 16 years old. Thank you.

I don't believe that regularly just handing money over to kids teaches them nothing about earning money. Most of the time they should have to do things to earn this money. I don't include in this regular chores around the home. Kids also need to learn that being part of a family (or even a group of people sharing a home) also means everyone needs to pitch in. You certainly can give kids regular chores but also have "non regular" chores that you could pay them to do. When I do this I expect to OAU very well for such chores but I tie the actual amount to the level of the work done.

Yes, the sooner they learn about currency and how to properly use it is important or else when they get older they will spend foolishly and live in poverty.

CJ has a good point about chore's, but they will be young and carefree only once in life. So small chore's to stimulate mind and body, yes, but not work like an adult. Plenty of hard work later in life. You are the kind of woman that understands the importance of commitment and dedication to school and work. You set a good example of success.

If they do chores, then yes. If they don't do anything "for" the money, then no.

Agreed. They need to learn from the beginning what earning money means. Just giving kids money only hurts them in the long run.

Exactly!

Very smart, the children must also learn to take care of themselves as early as possible! And they could be more independent and confident! It can be the first part time job for the children.

Exactly. Even if it's just taking out the trash.

Yes. Otherwise, they will never learn the value of it or how to manage it.

Depends on how old they are. 4 Year-old should get maybe 4 dollars and see how they handle it. 16 year old maybe 15 dollars. Just see how they handle it and you'll know.
