2 options: 1> go to a pep boys or auto zone, they can plug a computer in & tell you whats wrong with it, then when you have it fixed the light will go off, or 2> pull the dash apart, remove the gauge pod & take apart the back of it & pull that particular bulb out. it's easier than it sounds, but a sketchy way of hiding the problem if you ever plan on selling the car.
You need to hook a diagnostic reader up to the cars computer to clear the check engine codes. It will also tell you why it's on in the first place. Autozone might be able to help you. Or your mechanic.
You can also shut it off by pressing your trip odometer button down till it starts flashing . When it stops flashing , release the button and it will go off ! Usually they will show when your oil is low or something else is low ! If it doesn't go off then something is wrong, but usually that will shut it off ! Check your oil level !
