We do use all of our brain. This is a common misconception. Your whole brain is always in use, to think, to breathe, to keep your heart beating, to walk, to chew, to blink, to focus, to hear and so on and so on.
well, i believe that there is more to our brain then what we know of. like we know i controls our body movements, but i think that it can go beyond that. if you have noticed, but some people are really special. some can move tiny things with their minds, see things like auras and spirits around people and places, and others can (what they think) read other people's minds. i know all of this sounds crazy, but maybe our brains can really do such things. we just haven't open the doors like they should. i mean, we aren't that smart at all. sometimes we have to brush with death to start to use those parts. i wish i knew why these things happen to some and not others. even if it all sounds crazy now.
Well we do. It all has to do with our personalities. (I learned about it in science.) this women was stabbed threw the gray matter in her brain. The doctors said there was no brain damage. Ahh see that is where they are wrong. Her complete personality was totally changed. Like she was a different person. The unknown parts hold what we are as a person. Hope this helped :)
Oh, we can! The notion that "we only use X percent of our brains" came from a time when very little of brain function had been mapped. We know a bit better now. They can inject radioactive sugar into you, and See what parts are thinking about whatever stimulus you put in font of them.
we all use our brain in every time .but some time we can't relies when same work doing all days . so we can say that we not using our brain but any work in different aspect then we use our brain.so every time our brain is working.
Taken from MSN Health - How Much of the Brain Do We Really Use? This is my understanding and I thought this paragraph explained things more succinctly than I could.
I’m not sure where the “10 percent myth” came from, but I do know that when the myth first began, doctors and scientists had no reliable way to measure how much of the brain was used. Even now, MRI and PET scans don't provide a perfect estimate of how much of the brain is being used at any one time. After all, it's not as if we can count brain cells and measure their activity like we can count hits on a Web site. Plus, when an area of the brain is active during a particular activity, not every cell in that area is being used. But that’s not the same as saying that those cells are never used.
it is my belief that we do use every part of our concious brain, which is many times distracted unkowingly by many things including everything having to do with everyday life while the subconcious feverously works, processsing recessing, and digesting like the unseen work of a computer and the concious mind is like the screen(what you can see and view and what you are currently doing seeking and or searching) as the computer fills up w emails cookies and the like( or your life historyand its baggage), it begins to move slower and become less effective, bogged down, that being said , toss the baggage and garbage and your brain will will run more smoothly and efficiently in the concious, enabling us to use more of our concious mind the way we would like..ex. you have a beef w a friend or family member that festers in the subconcious bc its not talked about, it will evntually hinder your concious, once is discussed, relief is felt, pressure is alleviated and you generally can proceed w your life that much smoother bc your mind is less constricted, even if just a little. keep in mind, the brain and computers have more in common than just electricity. to answer the question, the less busy/bogged we keep our subconcious, the more we can use our concious, its not why we cant use all of our brain, its why cant we do more with our concious mind. EXCUSE ANY MISSPELLINGS
According to Scientific American the belief that we don't use more than 10% o our brain is a myth. The argument that we do indeed use more than 10% of our brain is "fueled by ample evidence from clinical neurology. Losing far less than 90 percent of the brain to accident or disease has catastrophic consequences"
we can't it is impossible to use that much mental operations and not crash to where your brain dead if you could you would be to powerful the Government would find you and recruit you into the army if you said no they would start testing on you until they found out how to make their army invincible and kill you in the proses so you would be dead then its over
BY LOOKING AT SOME OF THE ANSWERS I SEE THAT SOME PEOPLE CAN'T SPELL OR USE PUNCTUATION MARKS. I AM NOT PERFECT , BUT I TRY TO SEE MY FAULTS AND WEAKNESSES AND IMPROVE WHAT I CAN. I HAVE A COUSIN WHO GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL, BUT WHILE WORKING AT A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT SHE WAS UNABLE TO COUNT CHANGE BACK AND WAS FIRED WITHIN TWO DAYS. ALSO WHEN WE LOST POWER TO OUR FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS OUR YOUNG ADULTS WERE UNABLE TO USE MATH SKILLS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE NONE. SO HOW MUCH OF OUR BRAIN DO WE USE? IT DEPENDS ON EACH PERSON AND THEIR OWN LIFESTYLE. I TRY NOT TO EVER USE A CALCULATOR AND TO LOOK UP WORDS IN A DICTIONARY. MY 8 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE TOP 98% NATIONALLY FOR HIS GRADES SO I THINK HE USES MORE OF HIS BRAIN THAN I DO. MOST PEOPLE USE 10% WHILE OTHERS USE 25%. SO WHO IS TO SAY WHAT THE ANSWER IS. NOT ME, WHAT DO I KNOW I'M JUST A MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER.
