Consider this, the communist east banned all religion for decades, how well did that work out?
People want something to believe in, to have faith in. Thankfully God is there. You are free to believe or not. I choose to believe and I am the happier for it.
My step father grew up in the Soviet Union, he wasn't ever a supporter of anything concerning it.

Communism is a horrible idea in it's very nature. lack of religion was not was no where near the cause of it's problems.
Report as
The whole nature of communism is that the leaders of the movement saw themselves as a god! They didn't believe in the one true God, they wanted people to worship them!
Report as
I have to agree with Lillepp. The communist economic system is what beat the Russians down into hopeless despair. And there was no lack of belief in the Soviet Union. That's what belief has going for it. It is within the consciousness of the believer. It just wasn't allowed public expression. People were free to believe what they wanted, and many continued that belief despite the government's best efforts.
Report as
You are all right, I never meant to imply that the suppression of religion was the cause of the fall of communism. I write from work in my breaks and sometimes I have only a moment for a line or two.
The point I was making was that with the elimination of organized religion nothing improved, much was diminished in the lives of ordinary people.

Why are u so pessimist?!How do u define faith?Still without believing in God or a god u can have faith. All the fight always do not happen because of the faith in God,all the fight always happen because of the faith in Satan, and human selfishness.

Yea definitely. No matter what anyone says, all the violence and death caused by religious conflicts would never have happened if no one ever believed in a god. Belief in god= multiple organized religions= religious differences. Then religious differences + intolerant extremists= equals bloody conflict and war. All for something that is not even real. What a shame.

Yes people would definately find something else to fight about but getting rid of religion would solve one of the big problems in the world.

Let's look at how Hitler tried to wipe out a human race... Where did he get that idea? If you study the complete works of Charles Darwin(the person who came up with the idea that the world evolved through natural selection) you'll find this statement.
"With savages, the weak in body or mind are soon eliminated; and those that survive commonly exhibit a vigorous state of health. We civilized men, on the other hand, do our upmost to check the process of elimination; we build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed, and the sick; we institute poor-laws; and our medical men exert their upmost skill to preserve the life of everyone to the last moment. There is reason to believe that vaccination has preserved the life of thousands, who from a weak constitution would formally have succumbed to small-pox. Thus the weak members of civilized societies propagate their kind"(The Descent Of Man)
This is a statement that most "evolutionists" would not want anyone to stumble across. Why vaccinate people with small-pox? Just let them die! Only the strong survive in a world of natural selection... Jesus came to earth and lived a life of compassion, he healed the sick, gave the blind sight, and ultimately gave his life to save us. Why would we believe these lies?!

Yes and no. The god myth served its purpose by pacifying the hoards of ignorant humans for most of history and was responsable for the construction of great monuments and buildings. Now it has outgrown its usefulness and is beginning to obstruct our advancement, we need to let it go.

God does exist and I believe in Him. So the world wouldn't even exist if there was no God. But, all the fighting isn't His fault. As a matter of fact, the more people DON'T believe in God, the more problems there will be. Humans need rules and morals. We need discipline.

Maybe, but probably not by much. People argue no matter what. Wars happen because people can't get along.

We have no substantial scientific evidence to support the theory of gods. But I agree with caluvox. The delusion of god has become burdensome.

I believe a number of things contribute to war, religion being one of them. But I also believe that faith in god(s) keeps people alive. It gives them something to believe and hope in. It gives them strength. So I'm divided.

GodordirtZack

Consider this, without God, who sets our moral standards, all as an individual, a nation, and a world? Who should set them? How do we determine right from wrong? Without God, all of these questions and many more are impossible to answer and are meaningless. The world is dying, it becomes closer to death every day that we drift away from God. The only way to revive it is God.

Pray this helps. God bless. - Zack

Without any god (small g), such as money, power, prestige, physical beauty, or Zeus, Jupiter, etc., yes; but not without the one, true, Judaeo-Christian God (capital G), who reveals Himself, and the best way of life for us, to us, in the Holy Bible, no way. He knows what's best for us, because He made us. I hope this helps to fully answer your question.
