Child is severly depriving herself of food.concerned about health and need to know if med tests to find physical damage.

her father and paternal grandmother have been calling her fat since she was 4 years old. she is now 12 and throwing out or hiding food.If I can get some specific medical verification I can get her out of that household which is what she wants. She is by far not overweight in any way. She is larger boned but has a figure like Fergie. She is never goingf to be a little stick figure model, but she is beautiful. No female in our family is over 140. We are weight concious and we eat and exercise to keep toned. Please give advice to helpo me get a diagnosis to get her out of that house.

I assume she doesn't live with you. I would talk to her doctor or take her to a doctor to see if they can determine how much damage she's done to her body. Then go from there. If you have a friend that works for a lawyer, see about getting free advice on what you should do. You could also call child protective services. I hope everything works out for you & your daughter!

Thank you. I will take her to my doctor and hope he can find something I can use before she goes into a life threatening position. She has lost weight over the last three visits and I am scared for her safety. She has admitted to hiding food and she had her untouched lunch with her.

the child may have an eating disorder, I would get her seen by a doctor. If this is the case it is more psychological than physical but definitely does need to be addressed. I have struggled with eating disorders for a while now so it is something that can be dealt with but it is better to address it sooner rather than later.
