It's not like thy meant to do it.
They don't know the meaning of PULL OUT.
They think they love their boyfriend soooo much that they are going to live together forever ever and ever so they have sex because of their "love" and get pregnant.
Because their parents didn't teach them properly or they chose not to listen. So sad because they will miss so much. :o(

I don't think most high schoolers who find themselves in this situation started out trying to get pregnant. The fact is that contraception, even when used properly and consistently, isn't 100% effective. Added to that is another fact in that teens girls are remarkably fertile, must more so than women in their 30s and 40s. Added to that is the frequency with which some teens have sex. It shouldn't be surprising that teen pregnancy is a rather common occurrence. Sad, but not surprising.
Lack of common sense....$3x is more important then getting an education.

because no one has ever taken the time to sit down with these young people and explain the facts of life to them which includes safe sex ......it's sad really

Children are just that, CHILDREN. They do not have ability to completely grasp the magnitude of the consequences that they will face until it is too late. Most teen moms have said that they never thought this would happen to them and that they just weren't thinking when they got pregnant. Most teens are looking for acceptance and what they think is love from anyone who is willing. It's sad. Even the best parents in the world can end up having a child who makes this colossal mistake. It's just sad.

It can be from stupidity, Lack of knowledge, wanting to get it on, hum, maybe they were drunk... I think I will go with stupidity.
BecaUse we want to get the guy to stay so we do anything to feel wanted
1. Most don't think it will happen to them. 2 .Some really think they found something they can do well( get pregnant)..and like the attention. Those girls aren't usually the most successful academically 3. To keep a boyfriend( doesn't work most of the time). 4. Too embarrassed to ask the guy to use a condom and too embarrassed to go get birth control for themselves.4. makes them feel grown up 5. missing love and affection at home so they try to get it the anyway they can and end up pregnant 6. Their own childhood was not good, or abusive, so they want a baby that they think they can do a good job loving and raising. 7 The baby will love me so much and fill some needs for love
naive parents who didnt take proper precautions to put the girl on birth control pills, the guy said he was using a condom and didnt. maybe his parents didnt give him the 1 on 1 about the birds and the bees etc.

Well you see when a man and woman decide to have sexual intercourse the sperm comes from the man and fertilizes the woman's egg and creates a baby. The same reason adults get pregnant.
I got pregnant in high school, and it was a mistake then. But I wouldn't take it back for anything now. Im only 20 and my son is 2. he is my life. And his father isn't in the picture. It's amazing how much people change in those 4 years. It's just carelessness, not being fully educated about the subject. If I did it all over, I'd make the same decision because of him.
