When did the declaration of independence start

On July 2nd 1776 the Continental Congress voted for the independence and refined its Declaration of Independent before releasing it to the public on July 4th 1776. Hope this helped.

It started in June1776 and went on to July of the same year. It was ratified on the 4th of July 1776. You can read all about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Declaration_of_Independence.
