I have had a migraine for 10 days nonstop. Nothing is making it better. What do I do?

I've tried prescription pain killers, muscle relaxers, and pain medications through an IV from the ER.

Have you tried pure oxygen? Or acupuncture? Migraines are one of those idiopathic illnesses we still haven't figured out what causes them - but we know how horribly painful they are. The oxygen has helped some sufferers by increasing oxygen saturation - the idea being that certain cranial nerves are not receiving proper oxygen quantity for effective tissue perfusion. There are research MD's that have had some promising new therapies - you're going to have to scout around to see if you can get one or into a pain management program specifically concentrating on migraines. Hang in there - it will pass.

Migraines are mostly caused by rush of blood into the head. You can stop this rush by applying cold compresses to your head. You need also to check whether you have any issues that maybe causing you stress. It would be good if you seek doctor's help. no headache is normal, especially for 10 days. I'd go to a doctor asap. unless you've been diagnosed with them it may not be a migraine. a migraine is caused by vasodilation and puts pressure on the surrounding areas. a non migraine headache is caused by vasoconstriction and lack of blood. high blood pressure can cause continual headaches so have that checked. if normal over the counter things aren't working it could be blood pressure or something worse and might need a ct scan or MRI. if you know you don't have high blood pressure you can try caffeen.
