How do I get rid of the white film and spots on my dishes?

Every time I wash my dishes in the dishwasher it leaves a white film and spots on all my pots and pans. It doesn't seem to be on anything else but happens every time I do dishes. My husband said to run the dishwasher without soap to see if it was the water and its' not. I figured it may be because I'm using too much soap but it says on the back of the liquid soap to fill every space completely full. This seems like way too much to me since I get spots with hardly any. I want to be using enough to clean my dishes but not really sure what to do. Please help this is so annoying!

If you have ran the dishwasher without any soap and there are no spots- you have successfully ruled out hard water deposits. I agree that too much soap could be the issue. Is your water softened? This can greatly reduce the amount of detergent you need to use. Also, refer back to your owners manual if possible as I have a double section compartment in my washer and realized years later that the second one was only for if I ran the "pre-wash" cycle which I never used! What a waste! I would try using less detergent along with a Jet Dry rinse aid. If that doesn't work, try other brands of detergent. Best of luck and God bless! :)

Thanks! What exactly is jet dry..is it dish washing liquid or is it specifically made for spotting?

Yes, it is specifically made to help reduce spotting. It comes in a small container like a miniture sized dishsoap bottle and is often colored blue. It is usually located next to the dishwashing detergent in the store. Your dishwasher should have a reseviour to pour this stuff into so that it can dispense during the rinse cycle. Hope this helps :)

You can get rid of the white film and spots on your dishes by cleaning your dishwasher using a liquid rinse aid. This is because the white film and spots are caused by the accumulation of hard water on the dish washer due to frequent use.

Automatic dishwashers suck. Over time they will ruin (etch) your glassware, it will do the same to the glazing on your china which is basically a glass coating. You are better off hand washing your fine china and glassware.
