E-Verify is a database where information provided to an employer on Form I-9 at the beginning of employment is entered into. This information includes your name, social security #, your date of birth and the response you provide on form I-9 relating to your citizenship status. Information from the ID(s) you provide to your employer is also entered into the E-Verify database. This information is compared to records on file with the Department of Homeland Security and/or the Social Security Administration to verify employment eligibility in the United States.
