Follow the instructions your artist gives you. I have had three different artists give me my tattoos, and have received three different after care instructions. The only thing that remains the same is use some kind of A&D ointment the first couple days. Not following your artists instructions will void any guarantee they give you that the tattoo will heal properly and look right for the remainder of your life. Most artists will give you lifetime free touch ups (depending on where you get it on your body-BUT will not touch up if you did not follow their instructions on aftercare). Good luck- and remember, the pain is only temporary, but the tattoo is forever!

Just use a&d ointment for like two weeks twice a day. Then lubriderm until it is healed completely

My tattoos that have healed the best have been sealed in burn tape. This is an ideal environment because the tape seals off the tattoo from rubbing clothes, dirt, etc, and the ointment disinfects and moisturizes.

In lieu of burn tape, you should bandage the tattoo for the first few days to prevent irritation and infection. Wash it gently daily with a fragrance-free soap to keep it clean. Apply A&D as needed to keep it moist.

How about yod don't get a tattoo at all. That is the best thing. Do you really want it you will have it forever. It can be hard to get a job if your boss does not like tattoos, it is unprofessional to most people. But if you really want it okay then I am not stopping you.

Put antibiotic ointment on it. The ointment will keep it from drying out and cracking and the antibiotic in it will keep it infection free. No prescription needed.

I agree.. Tattoos are dumb!! I have five and now that I'm a 25 year old mother of two I regret ever getting them.Unless you never grow up and that happens to a lot of people too

I would like to suggest to anyone considering a tatoo, to read up on the history of tatoos. Not recent history ... ancient history! It is not good. Make sure you are really wanting to join yourself with the spirit that is suggesting to you to get one in the first place. Not Good indeed!
