Does the post office (X-ray) the incoming/outgoing packages? If so, how do they also do it? I live in FL..

My boyfriend's friend wants to send a pck. But we all want to know if the Post Office from where he lives (Ohio) AND the Post office from where we live (FL) x-ray these packages. . . Had anyone had packages that were sent back for any x,y,z reason(s)??

According to the general postal service guidelines, the big mail centers x-ray all incoming packages. Florida is big enough a place for the x-ray to happen. They do this using customized x-ray machines. For more on their safety rules, visit http://about.usps.com/securing-the-mail/best-practices.htm.

They irradiate mail to kill any pathogens to stop someone sending Anthrax or something similar thru the mail. They also sometimes have dog sniff the mail for explosives or drugs.
