How is the employment relationship typical of modern organizations different from the relationship of a generation ago?

In modern organization, the employer will listen to ideas from the employee while in the generation ago, only the employer's ideas were to be followed even if the employee saw an error, there was no way to correct the employer. The modern employment relation is better because each person listens to the other no matter the rank for the betterment of the organization.
