No wild animal makes a good pet. Sugar gliders are very delicate little creatures that require special care. Unless you are very skilled with animals, you would probably just kill them.
Instead of supporting an industry that takes animals out of the wild, how about going to Pet Smart or somewhere and getting some hamsters or guinea pigs, or even better, adopt a kitten from your local shelter.
If you like an exotic kind of pet, then sugar gliders would make good pets. However, it is advisable to find out if sugar gliders are legal to have as pets within your state by contacting a local County office. Check out http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/sugargliders/a/sgaspets.htm for more details.
Sugar gliders are expensive to buy and maintain. Their food is expensive, vet bills are high, and being nocturnal, their loud screeching will probably get annoying. They live about 12 years, so you are making a long term commitment.
