There is a series of four books written by Yorkshire veterinarian James Heriott that are simply outstanding: "All Creatures Great and Small", "All Things Bright and Beautiful", "All Things Wise and Wonderful", and "The Lord God Made Them All". Humorous, touching, sometimes poignant, Heriott's stories are entertaining and brilliantly told.

I would say, "We Will Meet Again", by author Mary Higgins Clark. It's a murder mystery and it is full of suspense!
