Can my beta fish be in a room without windows as long as I keep the tank light on during the day?

For example can the tank go in my daughters bathroom if we leave the tank light on during the day and turn it off during the night?

Yes, so long as said tank is filtered (which it should be regardless of where it is). Make sure you plug the light into an outlet timer so that the light is consistent every day. In my experience, it's best to have the light turn on around dawn, and turn off a bit before dusk.
Also, having a real aquatic plant would probably help the environment for it.

It is possible for you to leave your beta fish in a room without windows. However, you should ensure that there is enough air in the tank and that the water is fresh. There should also be sufficient light in the tank.

Yes, this is better than putting it in a room with a window because after a few months the light will come in letting algae grow and will soon get out of control. Just a few hours of light are essential. Get a filter and heater for your tank to keep your water clean and clear and the heater to keep your temperature between 76-82 degrees but, 78 degrees is best. Other than that you'll need pellets I prefer hikari betta pellets. Get a few plants or small log and some aquarium gravel so that bacteria can build up there. You'll also need a siphon and you'll need to do it about every 2-3 weeks. You want to take out about 30% or 1/3 of your water and you probably want a 3 or 5 gallon tank and make sure to cycle it first. Here's a link- http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php . And if you notice that something is wrong with your betta you'll have to pick up a disease preventer but, if you use aquarium salt (cost only about $2-3) your fish will probably never get diseased. It also helps provide more air in the water and helps his gills stay healthy. I just thought I'd give you some information because at mostly all pet store that won't tell your any information or inaccurate even.
