I don't believe there is life after death. Once one dies, there are no chances whatsoever that life can be breathed back into the dead body. However, according to religious books like the Bible and the Qur'an, there is life after death.
Yes, there is, 1John 5:11 "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

There is surely a life after death. If there isn't, the whole idea of God would not have come to our mind. Love binds man and he becomes sad when a person closer to him passes away. But in fact he hasn't ceased to exist, but will continue in spirit. The only issue you should be concerned with is where should your spirit be after death? If you want it to get a new life which will last forever with all your loved ones, you must do what God tells you to do and forbid what He wants you not to do! May He show you the straight path.
I believe in an after life but not in the traditional sense that most Christian denominations teach. Based upon scripture found in the bible I believe that when we die we remain dead in the ground until god resurrects us. Ec. 9:5-10; "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even the memory of them is forgotten. Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun. Go eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do. Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun- all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, the place in which you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." John 5:28-29; "Do not be amazed by this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out- those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned." - NIV Bible

I would say that yes, and not only is there life after death, there is actually no death...
What seems to happen is merely a change of state where we transition to life without the density of the body.
Here is a book for you to consider, the author (an Anglican nun) actually wrote it posthumously (after her own death). She did this telepathically through her friend Helen Greaves, and she explains what life was like for her after her death, and the title is TESTIMONY OF LIGHT. See what you think!
