How do I cool down spicy collard greens?

I made my collard greens to spicy, to much red pepper, how can I cool them down?

Whenever I accidently added too much spice to a dih, my granma said to use a potato.Just put a whole white potato in the dish for a bit ,it will soak up the excess spice.When you are ready to serve the food it should be just right for eating.
