How do republicans feel about Romney saying he does not care about the 47%of Americans that pay no taxes...

anyone now going for Obama ???

Report as

Umm if people choose to be on it I feel the same way. There's some people who choose to be welfare mooches...those I have nothing to say nice about them at all. What, should we give them more?- and I'm talking bout those who abuse it before some people attack my comment

And in your expert opinion how many of them are mooches?
Report as
Well look at walmart and your guess is as good as mine. Be sure you go at the first of the month though. Food stamp day you'll see those idiots pushing 3 carts full of junk food talking on their cell phones.
Report as
So in what sense is that abuse? Because they get "junk food"? You'd be screaming overreaching govt control if there were restrictions on junk food. And since you don't know the first thing about any of those "idiots" you're in no position to even guess who is "choosing" anything or who deserves help. Bottom line, you can't even guess so therefore you shouldn't be whining about what may be a tiny minority of people who are "moochers".
Report as
You missed my point. When a person has 2 or 3 carts full of nothing but JUNK food it's wrong. Cases and cases of pop and over 5 bags of chips, countless bags of candy...you think that's okay? How about Meat, veggies, fruit and dairy products, bread and lunch meat???????? I know people who get welfare and shouldn't. Why? Because they're too lazy to get up and work. If you don't see what I'm saying maybe I know why. Sooooooo again, I didn't say all people on welfare are mooches. The ones who choose welfare. Oh yeah and they can afford cell phones, cable/Internet and name brand clothes but can't buy their food??? Oh yes my point is made. Those things are luxuries if money is tight.
Report as
If I was in need on them I know I'd get everything like meat, veggies, fruit, lunch meat and bread and dairy. Think about. Then the ones getting all junk is hitting up the food banks begging for what they should've gotten in the first place
Report as
Well said, that's the truth. My best friend works at walmart and she always says the same thing. Then they go out and get in a new Cadillac. Yep, abusers of the system. No respect for those!
Report as
I didn't miss your point. I just think it's invalid and a diversion. Bad eating habits apply to most Americans according to the stats. You cite it because you're desperate to convince yourself people don't need assistance. And excuse me if I don't take your word for who "should" get it. I'll rely on the federal govt guidelines that more fairly determine that, WHICH by the way were in place under Bush long before this year. There certainly may be people that I also think don't need it and abuse it, but that doesn't mean I'm qualified (neither are you) based on what I see at Wal-mart. If you even halfway understood the Clinton welfare reform initiatives (a Democrat of course) you'd know how much that cracked down on abusers.

And I I can't even believe youaskedit is insane enough to make the Cadillac claim from the 60's! Hilarious!
Report as
This is the saddest thing.. ignorant people with no understanding of another person's situation who make ignorant claims that the others are just lazy and should be getting one of those non-existent jobs that are magically just "out there". That hateful attitude is rampant among the GOP, altho there are too many Dems just as ill-informed.
Report as
Maybe I should post the question here: Why are Republicans so mean-spirited and uncharitable? (except when it comes to tax breaks for teh rich and corporations)
Report as
I'm not republican thank you very little!! AND AGAIN I KNOW PEOPLE WHO ABUSE THE FREAKING SYSTEM. HOW IN THE HELL AM I WRONG? HUH? WHY YOU SO UPSET WITH MY OPINION? AM I HITTING HOME? SO I WILL SAY AGAIN- I KNOW SOME PEOPLE WHO ABUSE THE SYSTEM. I SUPPORT GAY MARRIAGE AND IM A CHRISTIAN. NOW LET ME THINK..... HMMMMMMMMM DO REPUBLICANS SAY THAT?????? GET YOUR PANTIES OUT OF A KNOT!! SOME PEOPLE NEED HELP SOME DON'T. THEY SHOULD NEVER LET ANYONE LIVE ON IT OVER A YEAR UNLESS THEY'RE DISABLED AND CANNOT WORK DUE TO HEALTH ISSUES. THEY SHOULDN'T KEEP GETTING MORE AND MORE BENEFITS FOR SHOOTING KIDS OUT!!!! SIMPLE AS THAT!!! DON'T LIKE MY OPINION?? WAH!! TOO FLIPPING BAD. GO WAVE YOUR NOBOMA FLAG SOMEWHERE ELSE CAUSE I DON'T GIVE TWO HOOTS FOR HIM NOR HIS POLICIES. MOVING ON!! TA TA
Report as
@sadiesmomma, I know what your saying. Like the ones on iPhones and nice cars. Makes me so made that I work for them to have all their luxuries.
Report as
@bgscelicagts. That's exactly what I am saying. I don't down anyone who truly needs help. Those who need it temporarily works for what they need and want. But those who abuse look for ways to beat the system. I know a few people who abuse it and it makes me ill, then just watching some how they spend it on crap that won't feed anyone good make no sense to me. Thank you for seeing reasoning. - I'm not a mean person or idiot like he implied. Makes me question just why he got so defensive.
Report as
It makes me mad when people abuse it and the ones who really need it, gets little to no help. It's sad. The one getting so defensive must be in the abuser category. Maybe that's why. Also you are very welcome. Your answer was spot on! I gave you a star for it.
Report as
Thank you!! That was my thoughts exactly. And I know what you mean, my friend abuses the system and it really makes me mad. Her hubby brings home 800.00 weekly and they have cable, Internet and all including kids have cell phones. Now if I was tight on money I wouldn't have those things. I think she's lying and saying her hubby don't live there
Report as
Sadiesmomma , I won't elaborate here but I'm with you line for line. Multiply what you are aware of and what I have seen too X's who knows what factor and the number is sickening . And they just laugh in your face when you mention it.
You are just cruel , mean and stupid, and worthless piece of crap, in the eyes of far far far too many.
Report as
Exactly. They don't like it when the facts are pointed out Like you said they say-
I'm mean, cruel and stupid and everything else.
It is very sickening to see they're what they say I am

He was right. About 47% are on govt assistance and do not pay taxes. Many won't look for work when they are capable.

What do you think about health care???
Report as
Do you think the poor should have it? And what parents who can't pay for there child's medication
Report as
rshackleford
I think there is a need for affordable health care, but that obama's health plan was not thought through as well as it should have been, and it should be an choice, not a law.
Report as
You know nothing. 47% are NOT on govt assistance. That kind of ignorance is bad even for Republicans.
Report as
rshackleford
It was confirmed on the news. About 47% are on some kind of assistance. Not all on welfare, the total includes unemployment, medicaid, disability, and welfare.
Report as

You can read here about it. CNN confirmed the numbers, but said food stamps are also included.

Report as
No, you're still wrong and it's not even what Romney said altho he was also wrong. He said 47% don't pay taxes and that is also incorrect if you include payroll taxes. I'm also sure it was not "confirmed on the news" else put up a link. There are however saner republicans like these who don't buy into Romney's lies.

Also fairly amazing, more important and getting ignored here was that he wasn't concerned about them - about half of America. That must be a historically callous statement for a presidential candidate. I won't vote for Obama but Romney has been an amazingly clumsy and inept candidate.

Gee, opinion posts from fox news, neocons, a Romney flack on Huffington post and CBS news which does NOT even say 47% are "on the dole". Even the CBS says 47% pay no INCOME tax. That fact has already been discussed who the 47% are (largely in red states, i.e. republicans). Besides I referred to payroll taxes which shatters the 47% number. Non of those links are "the news". They're partisan op-eds.

Here's a much better op-ed that points out the Romnet/GOP/Fox hypocrisy on with so-called "entitlements" and moochers. And it has better, more accurate numbers, too.

@rshack- are you one of the people on food stamps and not looking for a job?
Report as
I can see a lot of people must have failed something like 7th grade math and failed to recoup in later grades. They just take a number like 47 % and just go ape over it and toss it around like kids on a playground .
I challenge somebody to make a non partisan intelligent explanation of what Mitt was talking about and not the MSNBC version.

@flight745. No. I've had same job for 15 years, do ok for myself.

Many fox-fed republicans on this site think the entire 47% are jobless freeloaders, so they'll not change. The educated ones that know the majority of the number includes the retired, those making less then 30k a year, US service members, and the disabled, hate Obama so much that they would vote for Romney even if he was caught making a porn.

I dunno, I didn't like the "bitter clingers" Obama said last year but he got elected.

I did. I think he was right. There are a lot of small minded people clinging to guns and religion as a way of resisting progress. And there's no reason. There's been no political attack from Obama or progressives on either one. The "worst" was a while ago and it was minor gun control regulation. That was a good thing. It's embarrassing they cling to their paranoia over that.
Report as
so you liked the way he insulted 50pct of the population. I think its the same as obama-- neither candidate is a "people person" candidate, they are both a bit aloof. Romney is the only one to go into a hospital and help a dying kid do a will... that tells me something about his character.
Report as
Agreed. Obama signs the letters to family of dead soldiers with an electronic pen. He sends his wife to visit them in hospitals. He is "friends" only with Hollywood glitterati. I noticed that Oprah has dropped him...

Neither I nor Obama said 50 percent of the people are those bitter clingers. That's YOUR claim. So maybe you should apologize, Rascally.

And Romney's publicizing a hospital visit tells you he likes good publicity. Wise up. Complaints about electronic pens are too laughable to deal with.
Report as
I don't get involved in your delusions. It's not material. I just point out that both candidates have "out of touch" claims.
Report as
Er, complaints about an electronic pen are not laughable to those who received the letters. Put yourself in their place, and tell me it's laughable.

If you are dependent on a check from the Federal Government for whatever reason (not judging whether or not you deserve it) you will be voting for the candidate who promises or who you think will keep it coming to you. That's human nature speaking. If you were running a campaign would you spend campaign resources on that demographic?
No, not unless you are foolish . That is not disrespecting that group of people it is just common sense.
Saying something that can be twisted against you like Romney did, well I guess he is not tech savvy about cell phone recordings.

None of the entitlement programs can go on in their current form . When you start a discussion about changing them in any way, people over react. Change will be occurring absolutely no matter who wins the election. How scary is that fact?
Report as
Romney won't cut basic needs support any more than Bush or Obama did. No POTUS wants riots. People will vote on sillier issues culture war and tax issues. And people do not vote in their best interests. Altho red-staters are the top 10 getting such benefits they will vote Romney. That contradicts your 1st sentence.

Half of the 47% Romney was referring to are people who were supporting him. He just made it clear how he feels about you want to be republicans.

You can be a Republican there's no need to be a "want to be ". What did I miss in his recorded comment that should offend anybody. I passed reading comprehension. As in the great radio and TV classic Dragnet , what I heard was "just the facts".
