is whooping a 4 yr old child 6 times on the butt considered abuse?

I went to the bathroom to get dressed bc my brother was comn to get me my daughter nd my niece to go to the store so I could get formula for my 4 month old daughter. I came back into the front room and my 4 yr old niece had my daughter by the waist upside down. I whipped her 6 times with my hand. my brother (the father of my niece) got mad at me nd said it was child abuse. is this true?

No. As long there is no bruises. If you did it excessively like 25 times or if you did it for no reason it would be. It's just disciplining your children.

If you have to ask then you already know. Spanking is in affective, and just bad parenting.

You grew up to be a women who hit a child who has a very loose grasp on right from wrong. Mission accomplished.

I don't think a child that is that young should be hit that many times... but if you barely and i mean barely hit them then it should be ok depends also on what the reason is

You should let the parents of the child decide punishment. You were probably alarmed and reacted. It's not ever a good idea to spank someone else's child.

That's the thing her parents don't punish her for anything she gets away with whatever she wants she has the day she was born

I would not say that was abuse, but I do not discipline my child by hitting. I try to prevent something bad, before it happens. I would never leave a toddler alone with an infant because they don't understand. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, and have you ever explained to the four year old about playing that way. Therefore I would have to say, yes that is abuse.

I have a couple of relatives that do not discipline their children either, and this is the exact same reason I do not baby sit for them. Sometimes it can be more trouble than it is worth, because end the bitter end, you will be wrong.
