If you were given the chance to go back in time to fix one thing and only one, would you, what would it be, and why?

I lost track of a friend. I'd go back and make sure that didn't happen. Friends are few. I miss my friend.

If you changed something in your past, you wouldn't be the person you are today. So what you need to ask yourself is, are you happy with who you are? I am happy with myself, so changing something in the past, no matter how minor, would alter my life completely. A butterfly flapping their wings in China, affects the air in the US. All things, no matter how small, play a part in the future of everything. Remember that, before you wish to change something in the past.

I'm with you on the friend thing. When I was in college, I messed around with a guy my best friend really liked. I had known her since I was 7 years old. I'm 39 and she still won't talk to me. I'd give anything to change that night.

Although there are some things i would want to change. i agree with CJ. if you went back and changed things, you wouldn't be the same person. so i accept the past because it shaped the me i am today =)

There are a lot of things I want to change. If I get back to the year 2008, I would take another major in my college. This is the most important thing.

I hear you. My degree use to get me jobs but now it doesn't because it's not specific enough to my field. Two many other people competing for the same jobs.

It's hard to choose, but I think that I'd go back to prevent Emperor Constantine from declaring Christianity the official religion of Rome.

More education. It's needed more today than in the past because of loss of jobs with outsourcing

This isn't something that's really fixable, but I'd want to go back and actually go to the hospital to see my grandma before she died. Side note: I hate receiving sympathy, so no sympathy comments.

Wow!! I think this is a great question but I also think that its a double edge sword. Just like CK said if you go back & change that 1 thing you alter your future. Well here is the double edge sword....we don't know if that one change would make our future better or worse. I don't know about you, but I'm not willing to take that chance. Yes I have had some down times in my life but I'm here I've survived them! But if I changed that 1 thing, would I be? I'm not willing to take that chance! Imagine if we all changed that 1 thing this world could be worse off...yikes! I don't have a crystal ball nor do I want one. So let's just get out there live our lives, be happy, smile every day & share that smile with someone!! Life is to damn short to worry about what coulda been!!!! :) or what its gonna be!!

I'd go back to Sept. 10th 2001 and prevent 9/11 from happening.

I would definitely go back in time to the day my father's cancer started. I would have made him go to the dr to get a complete checkup... He was sick for 10 years before he even knew what was wrong. When he found out, it was too late... He was terminal and died a year and a half later. The Drs said that if he would have found out even just a few years earlier, he could have survived a lot longer. My dad hated going to the Dr and over looked the seriousness of a lot of medical issues.

It's just something in the past that I always ponder the 'what if' aspect of. Let's just say that it could have changed nothing, or it might have saved someones life.

If the person really was a friend, they would still be here for you. I know first hand what it is to have what I though was a real friend and then realize they were not. It has taken well over forty years, but now, I would never go back to change something I cannot. Give yourself some time to rethink your need to go back. Good luck.

Hey, thanks, I appreciate the comment. Believe it or not, I have given that a thought, if I would actually go back. See, I lost track, but I never moved and I stayed in the same place, so I guess I was the only one interested in keeping contact.

It appears that way. Although friendship is one of the greatest gifts two people can share, it is not always a two way street. Give it some more thought, but I think you already have your answer. Things do get better...yes, they really do!
