Why do i run out of breath so fast?

I am 15 and i have been having problems breathing, i run out of breath going up the stairs or even cleaning my room. My heart also hurts once in a while its like a sharp pain that stays for a little bit. it hasn't always been like this. my mom thinks its because of stress but i don't really have a lot of stress. does any one know if i should be worried?

I am hoping I am wrong but there are serious health conditions that have symptoms exactly like you describe. If these symptoms are relatively new (not how you have always felt), then you should see your doctor ASAP, and request a full cardiovascular screen, including an ECHO. There is a rare disease called Pulmonary Hypertension, and it requires immediate attention. It is often misdiagnosed, thought to be things like asthma and being out of shape/ overweight, but is FAR more serious. Best to have a medical evaluation and gain peace of mind than to let the problems persist without intervention. For more info on PH, go to www.phassociation.org. I certainly hope this is NOT what you have.

I am sorry if my commentary was somehow offensive. I never suggested I was a physician, however I have a great deal of experience in this and I was merely making the case that she should see a doctor, and a potential reason why. More irresponsible for the people who answered before me to blow off the question with dismissive comments like "asthma."

If you are having shortness of breath, along with chest pain, you really should go see a doctor. While it could be simply stress related, it could also be a sign of something more serious, such as heart disease, or other cardiac issue.

Might also consider that u could be anemic. Red blood cells carry Oxygen to our brain and heart and other vital organs. If your Hemoglobin is low, it means that your Oxygen-carrying capacity is insufficient, which means u aren't getting enough O2 to your heart and lungs, & brain. This can result in shortness of breath and general fatigue.

You should be talking to your doctor. They know your medical history and family medical history, as well as having the ability to examine you and run tests.

We don't.

Any diagnosis answers to your question are garbage and should be ignored.

While it's true, all we can do at best is guess, I don't think it's fair to say that all answers are garbage. If nothing else it can give them an idea, that yeah...I really should see my doctor, as there is a variety of things that it could be - some of them serious.

Doctor's are expensive and a lot of people can't afford to run in every single time they think something is wrong, it's nice to be able to ask others for their advice first, rather than assuming the worst.

If you listen to people that do not know anything about medicine because you are too cheap to pay for a doctor visit, or not smart enough to go to any number of free clinics, then I guess you end up sick or worse.

You should know better yourself dispensing medical guesses. I see you are a Komen supporter as well, and that is supposed to make you smarter and more aware.

I agree... Garbage.

You are assuming that everyone posting has no medical knowledge or training. While it's true that many probably don't have it, that doesn't mean that there aren't some that do.

Obviously, most people here are well-intentioned. If people were looking for genuine medical advice, no doubt they would be wise enough to research elsewhere. Shame on you for bring so mean-spirited.
