Today the only thing that pennies are useful for is paying tax.

Well for change for example at a store you get $20.32 for change so so you need pennies for that 2 cents of the 33 I hoped I explained this ok for you to under stand.

Not to mention it costs more to make a penny than it is worth.

Becuase if you gave $5 and your change was 6 cents you wouldnt be able to get the exact change.

the reason a penny is still here is the reason that its alway $19.99 or $99.99, 99.99 is really a hundred bucks, but when we see the 9's, we automatically think of it like 90, is a lot cheaper. It is done in order to make people want to buy things more. 19.99 makes people think of ten. But to do this method of commercialism, you would have to have a penny for change.

That's true I learned that in 10th grade distributive Ed class. It's like deceptive practices. They also play sappy love songs in supermarkets to get u to spend that 9.99....;)

Not all prices end in 0 and 5, so pennies are needed. Since they cost more than a penny to make, perhaps we should make the penny smaller and thinner, like the Euro penny.

my mother always told me to look after all my change cause it adds up. I recently finished filling up a large bottled water jug and (long process though) so far I'm at 30$ and you really can't see much where the coins went down - I've got many hours of sorting and counting ahead!

What if you were buying something for 56 cent..and you only had two quarters and a nickel? A penny would come in handy!(:
