Unfortunately, exercising during the day will help you sleep at night, but make sure it's at least 2 hours before you try to sleep and as long as it isn't painful. Warm milk with a teaspoon of honey will usually work as well and you don't have to work so hard for it!
You need to be physically tired when you go to bed. Too many people are emotionally stressed and their minds are so busy, sleep is difficult. Physical exhaustion generates the enkaphalins that send you off to sleep quickly. Go to bed at the same time each night, because that encourages the body to generate those enkaphalins when needed. Don't stay up late to see a fancied TV program - if it is bed time, then go to bed.
You are SO LUCKY in America to legally be able to buy Melatonin as a sleeping aid. As night approaches, the concentrations of Melatonin in the body naturally increase up to 10 times more than during the day. This causes the feeling of sleepiness, which is why Melatonin is often recommended as a sleep enhancer. Your inability to sleep suggests you may well benefit immensely from taking Melatonin supplements – ask for guidance at a drug store or Pharmacy. It is also useful for seasonal sensitivities, and to strengthen heart, vision and immunity health. I have to use things like herbs (Passion-flower, mainly) which helps calm the nerves as well - but NEVER play with sleeping pills! They only make the problem worse and you can so easily get dependent on them....
Take Valerian Root if you want to sleep like a baby. It's non-addictive, all natural, no side effects, and you won't feel groggy in the morning. I take the Spring Valley Brand, as recommend by Shane Ellison, The Peoples Chemist. Hope this helps.
Turn off the TV, laptop and phone. Shower/bathe and do something quiet like meditating. If worries are keeping you up and you have trouble mediatating or thinking positive thoughts, get lost in a good book. If all else fails, try using a small Melatonin pill. Sold with vitamins in the drugstore. 3mgs will help train your body into a relaxing night. They are non-addictive and natural.

Instead of watching TV before beds turn it off about 20 min before you go to bed and read a soothing book or pray. It sound like this is common sense and that it’s an old wives tail but it works TV is to stimulating to the brain giving it 20 min to relax and letting it do something thats not processing a lot of info will calm you down for a good nights sleep. Good luck!

fake your brain in to thinking you have to do something. I do that and for some reason I sleep better. or write down all your worries and leave it on your paper and rest your mind. keep life simple. this society is so so busy trying to make other people happy. only make yourself happy first. sleep well
