Why can't I lose weight?

I excercise daily and I don't even eat breakfast or lunch. But I still can't lose weight. I completely dropped soda, kool- aid, and sweets. I excercise thirty minutes a day everyday, but I'm actually gaining weight. (I'm 14)

Well thats whats going on, your skipping breakfast one of the important times to eat, skipping 2 meals a day is making your body sense starvation and will try to gain you more weight, eat breakfast, and in between lunch a dinner eat nutritional snacks, fruits+Veggies+Grain etc....but small portions, and with a balance of excersise, you'll see a adjustment to losing pounds, just dont starve yourself and than eat a huge dinner, that is quite unhealthy for you and you body!

Well, what if I don't have time to eat breakfast? Cuz I don't. I start school at 7:13 and I'm always finishing homework. I'm always busy and thirty minutes of excercise is all I can squeaze in.

I try to not eat red meat, but hello! I'm 14. I still live with my dad and chicken is not on his list. I eat whats there, or nothing at all. And if I'm not hungry at lunch or breakfast, what do I do then.

You should get up and eat breakfast at around 6ish, stop the excuses, you can find a tiny bit of time to eat, a bit before leaving for school.

No not at all, but you can find at least 15 minutes or so to eat some sort of healthy breakfast, its very possible....unless your the type that gets dressed for a hour or more......create a scedule each time you awake....in that hour you get dressed, eat!! Thats all I'm saying.

you HAVE to eat at least a bit. not eating actaully makes you gain weight! and drink lOTS of water.!

Im 13. And like i try to fit everything into my schedule. And try to eat a banana every morning to give me energy.

If you dont eat your metabolism won't be good. If you are always hungry then you stomach is working hard to save food so you wont starve. That saved food makes you gain weight. You think you are losing wait when you starve yourself, but you are really just gaining because your stomach is storing your food. Also if you don't eat then you are risking becomming anorexic. The best way to lose weight is by having 3 small meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and then have 2 snacks (one between breakfast and lunch, and then between lunch and dinner). Also try soy wey and a mix of other protein. (go to a trustable trainer to see what is right for you). ( if you take the wey/protein drink, have that in place of the snacks.Just don't forget starving youself is horrible!!!

1. If you are 14, you need to excercise more than 30 minutes. The saying excerise 30 minutes a day is geared toward adults, but teenagers need 1-2 hours of excercise daily.
2. You are skipping breakfast and lunch. First of all, you should always, always, always eat breakfast. You need to eat in order to lose weight to boost your metabolism. Instead of having lunch, have a small breakfast, a small snack, a small lunch, a small snack, and a small dinner with no dessert.
3. Only drink water.
4. Make sure that you don't eat red meat - if you want to eat meat, make sure you eat low fat chicken or turkey.

Oh, well, if that's the case...
What kind of excercise do you do? Because if you can only excercise for 30 minutes a day, you might want to do something high- intensity like jogging for 22 minutes and walking for 8 minutes.

Lots of ppl are attempting to get control of their weight. These posters ALL have correct answers & good ideas. If you dont have time for breakfast, your can grab a protein drink/shake or Carnation Instant breakfast and drink on way out door, heathy bars @ lunch + an apple or some tasty correct snack. If you really want to do this you have to try to change eating habits and exercise. I dont know how over weight you think U are, but if its a lot it would be advisable to talk to Dr. The school nurse or PE teachers may have some very good ideas for U and they may even work out a schedule that will help U with exercise and nutrition ideas, that's one of their little used resources. At 14yrs, your body is doing a bunch of changing that maybe contributing. Get going and you will be rewarded by your efforts by Halloween. Good Luck.
