I try thinking of something relaxing if I can't sleep. If that doesn't help, I go to the living room and read some books, if you tire out your eyes, you'll go to sleep. I like to go to sleep when it isn't hot, so I turn on the fan, or eat some ice when I'm eating. If any of this isn't working, then here's another idea. You will go to sleep later on, right? So wake up really early, then you will be quite sleepy at the end of the day, so you'll sleep really easily, it worked really well for me. I hope I helped!
I used to have insomnia so bad i would sleep probably one hour a night, and i thought i was going to die from sleep deprivation. These days if my thoughts are keeping me awake, I try to think very randomly, like you do when you are dreaming. I just focus on random stream of consciousness and soon enough I am dreaming.
I have really bad sleeping problems so what I do is take this medicine called melatonin and then I listen to music and it usually helps sleep. Hope it helps. Oh and the melatonin medicine is nonaddictive so you don't have to worry about that.
Try a blend of sleepy time, calming and mint tea.. that works for me and before that i was doing sleeping pills i was up to 10 sleep pm a night/8 nyquil or some nights i was doing right around 8 to 10 benidryl.
I have the same problem as you. Think about something abstract. No current event, no battle, debts, no politic, nothing anxious. Think you are somewhere nice doing NOTHING, just watching, listening so something meaningless. I even have some new ages mp3 music but the type that are calm without words. If your like me clearing your mind won't work since I can stop thinking but thinking about something calm work.
