I want to move but my husband doesn't, what should I do?

What should I do? My husband and I have been married 2.5 years now, but we've been together 15 years. We have two beautiful kids 6 and 12. Right before getting married we bought a house literally right across the street from his mom's house, his brother lives around the block and his best friend lives down the street. I get along fine with his family/friends, but I am having trouble getting decent work here. I have a BA an a certification but have been working lucrative jobs that don't pay well at all because that is all I could get here. I went to visit my family in NC and had a job interview as a leasing agent, making good pay and I would get a discount on housing, on my way back home I got the call that I got the job. I would love to go, but my husband doesn't want to move.

The move sounds good for you, but what about your husband's job? You made a commitment to him. The best thing is to sit down with him and make a pros and cons list and figure out what would be the best for the family.

Cannot improve on what konekomom said. You didn't say how far you want to move and if your husband is self employed.

New job, good pay sounds good, but family comes first, if he already having a issue and don't wana move... may be u shouldn't.. have to be happy, and have to give happiness to ur family, and the rest will come. That's my opinion..

Keep looking in your area or just outside of your area where you own a home.

You don't know how lucky you are to have friends & family who live near by and can help you. If you have to take your car to the ship, there are list of people to give you a ride home, etc.

Let the job offer give you encouragement that you are marketable. Keep taking classes & reading to improve your skills.

Unless I misunderstood I believe you said that you keep taking lucrative jobs that do not pay well. A lucrative job DOES pay well. Hang in there.

I would stay there. You will find a job eventually, and your husband will be more willing to help out because of your choice to stay there and to consider his feelings. He has everyone that he loves right near him, and it would be hard for anyone to leave that for a job.

When u leave, he'll follow eventually. My mom-inlaw did same to dad-inlaw and he had no option but to follow. I hate living in same place all my life!!
