If you don't trim off the split ends your hair won't grow, all your doing is slowing down your growth. If you want healthy hair keep it that way, trim it. Not an inch but maybe half that. I get $175 for 15 minutes of work trust me on this.
This is just a cosmetic fix but I have seen pretty nice results. I just helped my friend color her hair. We were trying to make it look less damaged. First we used a store bought dye to darken the color. When you darken hair color it makes hair look healthier. Then we used a clear color to smooth the cuticle and lessen the appearance of split ends. To emhance results she bought a high quality salon shampoo and extra moisturizing conditionerfor colored hair(Pureology) has a good one. Her hair looks so much better we were shocked! One thing to add, this won't heal the split ends it's just a cover up. I know u probably are growing your hair out and don't want to cut it, I totally understand. I had a very short haircut (it was a mistake) and it took me two years to grow because I trim it and it broke at the ends. Just get less than a inch taken off to prevent breakage. Don't damage it further with blow-dry or other hot styling appliances. Don't brush wet hair and use cool or lukewarm water when washing.
Dye your hair a darker color.Once a month trim the split ends off a 1/2 in.Find a conditioner that's 50/50 moisturiser/protein balanced and do that once a week.Less manipulation to the hair when styling is required too.I LOVE to talk about hair...so I better go! :-D
You need to snip the tips of your damaged hair. A split end will get worse if you leave it. After cutting the damaged tips use a conditioner every time you shampoo and try not to blow-dry or heat style.
Coloring your hair is not going to get rod of the split ends--as already stated, it is just a coverup. You have to trim, not cut, the ends--a trim is just a small amount of your length, a cut I a lot more length. So trim a half inch, and if you still have a lot of split ends, you may have to cut another half inch--- but in the long run your hair will grow faster and look healthier once the split ends are gone :)
Is there a specific reason you don't want to cut them? If you want to keep your hair long, giving your hair a slight trim will actually help your hair grow faster. It's hard for the hair to keep growing after you have split ends, as it's dead hair. I would suggest getting a very small trip (maybe a half inch) to get rid of the split ends and your hair will grow faster.
You've gotta trim them. I have the same problem and I really don't want to cut my hair short because I look stupid, but we might as well embrace what ever it is we feel when we're about to cut our hair. I had recently had my split ends trimmed, but the stylist didn't get them all. So cutting it short may be the only option. don't worry. you're not alone. ?
