Does the sound on an iPhone alarm still go off if the phone is on vibrate?

Report as

It does -not- on my iPhone 3G; it just vibrates.

However, if the phone is placed on a hard surface (like a night stand), the vibration is loud enough to wake someone.

If in doubt, put a couple of pieces of change (dimes, pennies, etc) on top of the phone; it'll then be extra loud when it vibrates.

i have iphone 4 with new update and @caitie0206 is right, it works to the volume you want it to be. like ring tone on loud volume isn't affected by when you use ipod volume. and you should also be able to play music and have the iphone shut off the music at the time you set it to.

There should be a way that you can set what features you want to vibrate. Like you should be able to set it so that if someone calls that will vibrate but if you set the alarm it will play a certain alarm sound or ringtone.

No, the alarm will not go off on the iPhone if it is turned to vibrate. You should have the option of turning the alarm on and disabling your ringtones.

This is old school cell phone settings. You should be able to turn off the sound if you only want the vibrate to be on. For the price of this phone it should be there under settings.
