is there anything i can do if i bought a used car from an individual and not a dealer and the car turns out to be a lemon?

bought in march, had to replace the engine, and brakes, and now the transmission...

if you had done something sooner probably but it's probably too late now. i'm sorry that really sucks though. i'm actually in a similar situation. i paid to have my car fixed and he welded every thing 4 inches out of wack so now i have to go back to him and see if he will fix it and if not i'm going to sue him for the cost of having it fixed. but as you replaced the first part on that car you took all responsiblity of it.
