What are my options for these kittens? Read details, none of the shelters will take them!

I found 3 abandoned kittens - maybe a week old - and we couldn't find the mother. I wasn't going to leave them to die out in this heat so I've had them since Monday evening. I can't take care of them, we're barely getting by feeding them with what we can. I checked all the shelters and Animal Control won't take them without the mother who is probably dead. I have a cat of my own and can't afford the cost of care for 3 newborn kittens on top of my own cat. It's also not good since I'm away from home so much of the day so I can't always feed them. What can I do?!

I just saw your post and hope you've found help by now. If you haven't call all the vets in your area asking if they know of any " lactating queens" mother cats who have just given birth or are about to wean their kittens. Very often mamma cats will just adopt orphaned kittens. If that doesn't work ask the vets for the old kitten milk formula with egg yolk, milk and Karo syrup. I don't remember the proportions since KMR came out. If that doesn't. Work, ask all the kids in the neighborhood if they know whose cat just had kittens. They always know. You need an adoptive mother fast! You are a kind person and I wish i were there to help you. I hope you are successful .

You could take them to the pound and explain your situation to them. Or you could put up posters saying you have cats that need owners. Hope it works.

Have you tried your local humane society? I volunteer at mine and there are always kittens without a mother there. if they won't take the kittens posters would be a good idea too, or maybe an ad in a newspaper. Good luck to you and the kittens!

Contact local foster family's and farms. Many should be willing to take them in even without a mom. You may wish to bypass the shelter completely. They won't get the care they need as orphans. Shelters (some not all) may see them as less likely to survive and put them on the back burner, so to speak.

Please don't give up on them, try to find someone who can take care of them.
