How do you use olive oil? Got a nice expensive bottle of it today as a gift. I've never used it before. Thanks!

I'm going to contradict bikergirl40's answer. Olive oil doesn't work well for baking because the taste will be affected. It doesn't work well for frying because the smoke temperature is too low and it'll start to burn.
It does work well for cooking, such as for sauteing onion and garlic. It also works very well for salad dressings.

Your welcome. A great use for olive oil is bruschetta. Get some crusty italian or french bread toast the bread rub with garlic drizzle with olive oil top with chopped tomatos, hard salami, cheese, or whatever. Check recipes here http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipe-collections/bruschetta/index.html have fun!

If you like hummus you could make that, it's delicious. Purée garbanzo beans olive oil salt and lemon juice, use pita bread for the dipping!

An expensive oil would be used for salads and such. You can add some ground pepper or other spice to make a great bread dipping mixture. For cooking, use a cheaper olive oil.
