Is there an "app killer" for the iPhone like there is for other smartphones?

A friend of mine showed me how his droid has an app that kills other apps that are running in the background - saving battery life. I have not found one for iPhone and am wondering if I am not looking for the correct name in the app store.

Sorry, but there does not seem to be an app killer program for the iPhone. You can close the apps that are supposedly open by pressing on them and then clicking the minus sign. There is supposedly an app killer type of app in Cydia, but that's just heresay.

No there is not an app killer. iPhones don't need one. If you have a version of os4 if you double press the home button it will bring up all the apps that are running along the bottom. Long press them and they will close.

Thank you for the information. I have an iPhone 3Gs and it is running 4.0.1 I thought when I dbl clicked the home button, it gave me that last used apps. Settings is one of the 4 that come up and it is one of the last screens I was in. I don't think I can get settings or text to stop running. Maybe I am off base?

When those apps come up touch one of them and hold. A subtraction sign will come up. Just push the sub. Sign and it kills the app.
