While Eric is right regarding Apple product prices being tightly controlled, you can buy refurbished Apple products from the company. Refurbished products are items someone bought and then returned. They are in full working order and generally the only problem is that someone opened the box and the company can't sell it new anymore. Refurbished iPads don't stay in stock long but I have seen them advertised. I personally have bought all my iPhones as refurbished and paid almost half the retail price.
I also bought my husbands iPad for Christmas and bought it during the Black Friday sale online. I did receive a good discount, free shipping and free engraving (which is free anyways online I think). The savings was actually enough I managed to buy a travel charger and a keyboard with the savings and still paid a few dollars less than I would of without the Black Friday sale.
Hello again, reeivy - no, Apple very tightly controls the pricing of all its products, and only Apple dictates to retailers when the prices may drop, and what the price drops will be. If you are looking for an iPad 2, you will pay the same price (within a penny or two) no matter where you go.
