They do at first, and after you get them tightened. But after awhile you get used to them and they don't feel like they're there. My first meal with braces was applesauce, yogurt and chicken noodle soup because it hurt to chew.
I have them at the moment...(get them off on Halloween!) and no, they don't hurt. The first couple of weeks they will, and also a day or so after getting them tightened (you can take ibuprofen before your appointment). Overall, you'll be happy you had them in the end :)
When you get them on, It's totally fine, and then maybe 20mins later there is a dull ache inside your mouth. For me, the rest of the week after getting them on really did hurt, and I couldn't eat, I couldn't even press my tongue onto my tooth without the pain appearing! Every time I get them tightened, It's the same, but It's not as bad as that because your body sort of gets used to the pain. But they honestly aren't that bad, I was almost in hysterics before I got mine because I hate pain, but it was nothing like I expected, so don't worry :)xox.
They hurt a little when tightened, and takes a little while for your mouth to adjust to them. You may need a fork and knife to eat even a sandwich a couple times. But they are well worth it, and best advice is get a water pik to aid in brushing.... priceless!!!!
Yes, they hurt and they make you sore. It's worth it though. I'm still glad I went through all that. It doesn't hurt while they put them on and not everyone has constant pain. I didn't feel pain unless I tried to eat something I shouldn't have.

Different people say different things, so I'm just going to say what happened to me. When I was getting them put on, they didn't hurt at all. Then, later, about an hour after getting them on, my mouth was aching horribly. I couldn't eat anything for about three or four days, and all I could do was drink milkshakes and eat some pudding... They stopped hurting after those few days... Hope this helped :) The orthodontist said they can hurt any where from a few days - two weeks... Totally worth it though! I was lucky mine only hurt a few days... If you're getting them, I hope you do like my friend did, she said hers didn't hurt at all... Lucky her : )
Braces don't really hurt. You really just have keep up with them.. The best anyone will ever give you!!! EVERY TIME AFTER EATING ANYTHING IS TO GO BRUSH YOUR TEETH RIGHT AWAY MAKE SURE TO GET EVERYTHING THAT GETTING CAUGHT UP IN YOUR BRACES! THAT'S ONLY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET ANY INFECTIONS IN YOUR MOUTH..... GOOD LUCK.. BTW I GOT MINE FOUR YEARS AGO AND I STILL HAVE MINE ON!!!!!

apparently braces hurt when you get them and on and tightened for the first time. Orthodontists say that it will hurt if you have a low pain threshold, so basically it hurts if you are a pussy. I'm getting mine on in like 5 days, should be fun. HAHAHA
I have never had braces. My friends say that they only hurt at first, and when they get tightened but after a while you get used to them and they aren't so painful anymore. the most annoying part is what you can and can't eat with them on. nothing sticky and nothing to crunchy. Try to eat lots of soft food. my suggestion: apple sauce
hi ive just had my braces took off they dont hurt but they feel a little wierd for the 1st week like numb but doesnt hurt well it does actually depend on withch braces you get i hope this answered your quesion
