Please try to find some puppy food and make it stretch by using PLAIN, BOILED CHICKEN cut up/ground. I write this because puppies need certain vitamins/nutrients to grow into healthy, strong adults and you really don't want to shortchange your cutie. I can't stress enough PLAIN BOILED. Dogs in general should not have certain foods/spices. My JRT happened to be a little allergic to beef products. So far, I haven't heard of any dogs having a reaction to chicken.
As sirwinston noted, plain, boiled chicken is a good protein for dogs. You can add to that boiled rice (white or brown, either is fine) and veggies such as carrots or peas. Do NOT add any spices, salt, or seasonings, and stay away from junk foods--they're as bad for dogs as they are for humans. Also, no onions or garlic, they can be toxic to dogs (and cats).
SirWinston is correct about the nutrient requirements of a puppy, no matter what the breed. You can cook plain chicken by boiling it and make some white rice. That's what my vet told me to make when my puppy was sick and didn't want to eat. Please budget your money a little better. Puppies are expensive between the food they need to eat, shots they needto get, vet bills for when they get sick, collars, leashes and on and on. A healthy puppy is a happy puppy. A happy puppy is a happy caretaker/Mom/Dad!
